  • Automated text analyses in four languages

    May 6th, 2014

New text analysis tools by Lingenio and Canoo: The two companies strengthened their existing collaboration and integrated Lingenio’s French dictionary into Canoo’s LanguageTools technology.

Customers can now use the Canoo LanguageTools with a uniform interface for the four languages German, English, Italian, and French. These tools are integrated in Canoo Find-it. They map words onto their base form and classify them as noun, verb, adjective, etc.

Please find more information in the joint press release (German).

Canoo Find-it in use at nzz.ch

    March 6th, 2014

As of yesterday, Canoo Find-it Similar is in use at the news portal nzz.ch by  Neuen Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ).

NZZ online articles are now presented with up to four links to articles with related content (in the section “Mehr zum Thema” at the bottom of the article body), as in this example.

By means of an elaborate semantic analysis of the articles’ content, Find-it is able to generate these article links automatically. In addition, it is possible for the NZZ editors to add article links manually, as needed.

German Rhein-Zeitung now using Canoo Find-it

    August 12th, 2013

In October 2012, Canoo and the German publishing house Mittelrhein-Verlag Mittelrhein-Verlag (Koblenz) established a strategic partnership. The publisher integrated our Search & Analysis Suite Canoo Find-it into their proprietary mobile editorial system red.web, as a seamlessly integrated plugin. With this plugin, red.web offers its customers a range of additional functions which support editors to find articles more efficiently, to filter incoming agency reports, to subscribe to specific topics and so forth. These functions quickly attracted significant interest from customers. Yesterday, this productive collaboration moved one step further, as the publisher is going to use Find-it for their own large regional newspaper Rhein-Zeitung. “Our intention with this software is firstly to support our editors in their everyday work and secondly to provide our readers with plenty of benefits too”, said Siegmund Radtke, publishing director of Mittelrhein-Verlag. Detailed information on this topic can be found in the official press release from red.web. Mittelrhein-Verlag red.web

    Canoo Find-it 2.1 released

    August 2nd, 2013

On July 30, we released Canoo Find-it 2.1.

It is a major leap both in quality and functionality. Some of the improvements and new features are:

    • drastically improved the recognition rate and precision for the disambiguation of keywords
    • increased performance
    • added a new keyword category “Brands and Products”
    • relevance score is now consistent for all keyword types
    • keywords are presented in two forms: the unique and complete term vs. the most commonly used term
    • suggest service for existing keywords: this is useful for automated search completions (so-called “auto-suggest”) in search frontends
    • cross-language searches: searching for a German term will now also find matching documents in other languages

    Mittelrhein-Verlag and Canoo start collaboration

    October 31st, 2012

The Koblenz-based publishing house Mittelrhein-Verlag (publisher of the large regional newspaper Rhein-Zeitung and manufacturer of the mobile editorial system red.web) and Canoo have agreed to collaborate closely. The contracts were signed yesterday at the ongoing World Publishing Expo in Frankfurt.

The publisher is going to integrate Canoo Find-it in red.web and offer it to its customers as an optinal plugin. Find-it automatically assigns relevant keywords to all texts in the editorial system and thereby creates an intuitive and consistent structure across the entire range of texts: articles, agency reports, emails, office documents, images, etc.

There are multiple benefits for red.web customers: significant workflow support for their journalists and editorial management, and new attractive options for their news site.

Detailed information can be found in the red.web plugin description.
