Distributed data: Conflict-Free Replicated Data Types

Distributed applications are regularly facing conflicts – the so-called “fallacies of distributed computing”. Conflict-Free Replicated Data Types (CRDT) promise relief. This article provides a quick glance about this promising approach.

If data used in distributed applications need to be changed in different places in parallel, synchronization problems often occur. If there are additionally problems with the network connection, every attempt of synchronization fails. A worthwhile approach to solve those conflicts are offered with Conflict-Free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs).
