ULC Load

Avoid costly performance problems by detecting bottlenecks before a new application is deployed: ULC Load is a tool to create load for UltraLightClient-based applications. During a test run, ULC Load logs various performance data. Use this logged data to judge the performance and scalability of your ULC application.

ULC Load integrates into Apache Jakarta's JMeter load test infrastructure, leveraging the existing functionality of this infrastructure, e.g. easy visualization and analysis of load test results, easy load test distribution to increase load.

Two versions of the product are available:

  • ULC Load - single node version, suitable to test small applications.
  • ULC Load Enterprise - multi-node version, for large enterprise-level applications. This is a site license for ULC Load with no restrictions regarding number of instances, machines or connections. The license covers all of your testing requirements regardless of the size of your application or number of developers working in your organisation. To purchase a license key for the enterprise version, contact Canoo directly.

Use both versions of ULC Load to:

  • Record a scenario consisting of a sequence of user interactions.
  • Review the recorded scenario with a graphical user interface.
  • Parameterize the recorded scenario, e.g. parameterize the user name and password of a login dialog.
  • Replay the parameterized scenario with an arbitrary number of virtual users.
  • Measure and analyze performance data.

System Requirements

ULC Load and ULC Load Enterprise both require Java 2 (JDK 1.4.2 or later) and ULC 6.1.3.

Step 1 Download

Download and run the installer corresponding to your platform (file size: 33 - 48 MB):

Step 2 Licensing

Get an evaluation key (valid for 30 days). Buy a developer key for ULC Load, or contact Canoo to order an unlimited ULC Load Enterprise license key.

New Features in ULC Load

ULC Load has been completely re-implemented to offer improved testing functionality for Java RIA development with UltraLightClient. New functions include:

  • improved usability.
  • graphical output of results.
  • interactive, graphical test plan browser.
  • possibility to add and modify test plan parameters.
  • a very convenient way to perform multi-node load measurements (only ULC Load Enterprise).
